Base Rules

Set Up

Place one Ringers board on an elevated surface, such as a table, in either a plus or an X shape. Define a tossing line 6-8ft from this board.

How to Play

To decide who goes first, players take turns to throw all five of their rings at the board, one at a time. Players will take turns based on the points they score in this round in descending order.

Each player will toss 5 rings towards the board, alternating turns. When all rings have been tossed, one round has been completed. Record the points scored and before beginning a new round (see Ways to Score).

The first player to score 21 or more points at the end of a round is the winner. In case of a tie, play an additional round.

Ringer

3 points

The ring is all the way around the bottle and has fallen to lay on the base, or as close as possible

Hanger

2 points

The ring is either hanging from or hooked around the neck of the bottle. It has not fallen completely around the bottle, nor is it touching the board.

Flop

1 point

The ring is touching the board, but is not a Ringer nor a Hanger. This includes rings leaning on a bottle while laying on the board and rings laying on the board, partially in the air.

Rule Variations

Unicorn

When using a standard 5-hole board, put one bottle in the middle hole and leave the other four holes empty. The standard rules for point scoring and game play still apply.

Roundbox

WIth Roundbox rules in play, Ringers pack a bigger punch, earning players 4 points instead of the usual 3. No points and earned for a Flop, while the Hangers remain worth 2 points. The first player to reach 40 points wins. When combined with Bullseye, a player must reach 40 points exactly. Game play and set up are the same as the Base Rules.

Bullseye

All standard rules for game play and set up still apply. However, a player must score exactly 30 points to win. If a players score totals to more than 30 points at the end of a given round, all points earned on that round are void. All rings in a turn must be thrown toward the board.

Summer Livin’

Ringers and Hangers are considered the same when Summer Livin’ rules are in play and are both worth 3 points. Base rules for set up and game play remain. These rules are also useful when distinction between a Ringer and a Hanger is difficult, as is the case with bottles of certain shapes.
